Course 8B

This intense 2 day course will address life saving techniques to basic first aid and advanced life support encountered in the field or at home. In addition to practical medical knowledge, there will be hands on lab challenges to assist the student in recognizing and developing a proficient psychological crisis response model.

This skill is of particular use to people involved in heavy activities, outdoor activities, accidents in cars, work or home, animal training and handling of all types. Another emphasis is understanding how to use the environment to solve medical and other issues.

This course is geared to give you a practical knowledge to triage and stabilize life threatening injuries and medical emergencies. Cuts, deep contusions, open wounds, broken bones, burns, cardiac and respiratory arrest, snake bite, hypothermia and other trauma will be covered. The course is being taught by a 30 year veteran Medical Technologist, EMT and Winter Emergency Care specialist.
