RBBM I - CONCEPTS

This is the beginning course to study Relationship Based Behavior Modification/Relationship Based Training (RBBM/RBT). You are not required to continue after this course, however, this will help you to understand more about dogs' language, motivations, capabilities, and being able to better communicate your intent to them.

This course is a prerequisite to taking RBBM II, and is a prerequisite for taking “The Art of Leash Handling” which includes the 1 day “Long Line” Course.

The purpose of this 24 hour long course is to introduce the concepts behind RBBM and the Relationship Based Training system (RBT).

The class structure is approximately 50% lecture and 50% activities with your dog. Both the in-person, 3 day class, and the on-line 8 classes (3 hours per class) teach the same lecture/classwork introduction to RBBM/RBT. While the in-person creates real-time exercises that the group experiences together, the on-line allows students to use the exercises for video reviews and a different learning experience. Bring the dog you wish to learn from. This class consistently has people stating that they see their dog change within the class timeframe.

If the student continues to pursue learning RBBM/RBT further, it is highly recommended to take both experiences in-person and on-line. Should a student wish to become certified in RBBM as a Relationship Based Trainer, this course is required to be taken a minimum of 3 times (twice in person). It is the opinion of hundreds of trainers, who have taken this course and beyond, that there is so much material in this course they can only retain 20% of the course material each time.

This course requires a low-medium level of physical activity, and we highly recommend a substantial amount of note taking.
